Piano Service Experience

Richard Heinz, owner of A Piano Man, has been a piano technician since 1999. He joined the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) while studying under the expert tutelage of then PTG Chapter President, Russell Berkley (Berkley Piano Service). Richard then apprenticed at Acme Piano Co., San Diego’s oldest piano company. Acme’s Owner/Technician, Paul Robinson meticulously schooled Richard for over 1 year, regulating, restringing, rebuilding/restoring and tuning pianos.

Properly trained, Richard formed his own company, A Piano Man, in 2000. He serviced pianos throughout San Diego County for over 20 years. He has tuned for piano stores such as Convoy Piano, SDPiano.com, The Piano Outlet, afore-mentioned Acme Piano and The Piano Exchange. His services are sought after by piano teachers, students, churches, colleges, performing artists and private parties alike. Please see Testimonials page.

Richard stays current with the latest developments and newest techniques in the piano service trade through attending seminars provided by the Piano Technicians Guild.

“I believe a worthy piano technician helps bring harmony to the world, letting adults and children play and hear music as it was intended”
